Even though I was by myself, I never had a dull moment ! The teachers are good and nice. Funny, but at the same time serious about teaching and getting me to learn Spanish. There are lot of things to see and do here in the neighborhoud, I could only do a small part of it. The people are warm and friend and they all want you to experience the real costarrican life: "Pura Vida".

We enjoyed the school and the area very much. It´s beautiful and non-touristy with lot of great outdoor activities available. We highly recommend this school and its area.

Studying Spanish is our hobby. Each year, we head for Costa Rica for two weeks of study and one week of relax. All of our Spanish school experiences have been good, but "Spanish by the River" stands head and shoulders above the rest. It holds the right combination of ingredients for a successful experience. The teachers are well trained and clearly love to teach. The school itself is situated beautifully on the side of hill nestled in a tropical setting with a sweeping view of the countryside. Turrialba is a gentle blend of classic Costa Rican style living sprinkled with up to date conveniences. This year rather than choose a new location, we will return to "Spanish by the River". We can hardly wait!

As complete beginners we were a little apprehensive about learning Spanish, but the teachers were very kind and patient. I felt very at ease (trying) to talk in Spanish! I wish we could have stayed longer.

It was may 1st when we arrived, it rained, the town was too quiet. We were not so sure... but they convinced us to stay and here we are, after a week of learning Spanish and discovering the underwater world of Bocas del Toro under an amazing tropical sun and so beautiful faces.......We're glad, so glad we stayed. Now we have to leave, but we keep a sweet memory of this little Caribbean paradise and it's people. Thanks a lot, muchas gracias!

I have been here for 3 weeks and I don't want to leave. The teachers have been great. I learned a lot and moreover had a great time with everyone. Hopefully at some point in the future I can visit again.

The school and Avelina have been a pleasure. I hope to return someday and speak fluent Spanish. This has been a great experience for me. I have learned more than I expected too. I hope to return and continue my Spanish language education. Maribel and Avelina have been so helpful.

Sin palabras! Last year we studied in the Turrialba banch of Spanish by the river and we enjoyed ourselves there in Costa Rica. This year the school owner+director Ingrid (Ins), recommended we come to Boquete and were glad we did. Our experience here has been superb. Our teachers Avelina+Christian are highly skilled educators. Their technique is professional and they truly teach from the heart. Both of us made good progress. Hard to believe we accomplished so much in just the 2 weeks we were here. We are grateful to them!!!
Thanks to Maribel + Odoray who made us feel welcome and at home as we lived in the school quarter. By the way, accommodations are ´super bien´.
We will miss those two ladies, our resident geckos and Pepe the parrot.
Our experience has been a lovely blend of all the right ingredients.
