More than a school
More than a school. A way to travel, connect, and grow.
This isn’t just about Spanish. It’s about how you want to experience the world.
At Spanish at Locations, you’ll learn the language by living it — surrounded by nature, culture, and people who care.
history
How it all began
Nearly 30 years ago, Ingrid Lommers came to Costa Rica to work on a university project. She needed to learn Spanish — fast. But the only option she found was a cold, expensive school in the middle of San José.
That experience sparked a new idea: create something warmer, more personal, more real.
Today, that spark has grown into a network of small, flexible, nature-connected schools across Costa Rica and Panama. A place where Spanish isn’t just studied — it’s lived.

why
Why we do this
We believe travel should transform you. And that learning a language is a gateway to connection, understanding, and unforgettable memories.
That’s why we create immersive, supportive spaces — where classes happen outdoors, culture is shared daily, and every student is seen and valued.

What makes us different?
- Outdoor learning in natural, inspiring settings
- The option to switch locations while continuing the same course
- Multiple lodging options: from hostels to homestays
- A welcoming, tight-knit community — not a corporate chain
- [NEW] Personalized attention for Bildungsurlaub students and custom course planning for professionals or long-term travelers

Our team
We’re a small, multicultural team that truly loves what we do.
Ingrid is still hands-on — teaching classes, guiding trips, replying to messages, and constantly improving the project.
Her family is also part of the team, making this a true family-run experience.
Reservations are handled by Richelle — [NEW] with 15 years of experience crafting tailor-made programs and connecting students to the best local options.
